Inconsiderate Neighbours

The sky was full of tumultuous, dark ragged clouds. It was evening, Mr. and Mrs. Tan were on their way home from a jog at the park. By the time they reached the block they live, it was already night. Lightning and thunder raged with fury, chills went down their spines. They ran back into the void deck as fast as they could. When they reached home, they turned on their television and watched, completely forgetting that it was raining and that there were shirts hung outside their flat. After the rain, the water on the shirts dripped onto the neighbours’ shirts below. Their neighbour below was boiling with rage because their shirts were soaked wet.

When the couple was about to sleep, they realized that there was a night party below their flat. They tried very hard to sleep but they were awakened by the neighbour’s loud music. They could not tolerate the noise anymore so Mrs. Tan went downstairs and demanded that they lower the volume of the music. However, the neighbour refused and they started to quarrel with each other and calling each other names and using abusive language.

Angry frowns creased their foreheads and they started punching and kicking each other. A policeman who was passing by saw what was happening. They apologised to each other and regretted what they had done. They promised not to be inconsiderate neighbours again. Whenever they need help, they will call each other to help.

The Honest Taxi-Driver

John was on his way to the Changi Airport by taxi. He was telling the driver, Mr. Tan, about the places of interest that he had visited. He said that his friends had recommended the Singapore Zoo and the Singapore River along the way.

John took photographs of the beautiful scenery. Mr. Tan asked him where he was from and how long he had been in Singapore . He said that he was from America and had been in Singapore for two days. Mr. Tan smiled and said that he missed some of the places of interest such as the Night Safari, Sentosa and Singapore Science Centre. John realized that he was late, so when the taxi arrived at the airport, he grabbed his luggage and dashed out of the taxi.

When Mr. Tan looked at his rear view mirror, he saw a camera on the rear seat. Without hesitation, he turned around, grabbed the camera and dashed into the airport. Just then, he saw John searching frantically in his pockets for something at the check-in counter. Mr. Tan then ran towards John to return the camera to him. John thanked him profusely and praised him for his honesty. John then reached into his pocket and wanted to reward Mr. Tan with money but Mr. Tan refused to accept and said that it was only his job to do it.

The Library Incident

One day, I went to the library to borrow some books home to read. The library was very crowded. I even saw a few boys playing around the library. When I returned the library books to the book drop, I went inside the library to borrow some books. I went to a quiet corner and found a lot of interesting books about animals.

I sat down in a corner to read the books I had chosen. Then, I saw a boy holding a pair of sharp scissors. He was trembling with fear as if he had done something really wrong. I approached him and asked him what happened. Although he said nothing, I found a torn page in the book that he was holding. He passed the book to me and I asked him whether he had done it. He simply kept quiet.

I brought him to the librarian and told the librarian what I saw. The librarian thanked me and I was happy because I had done a good deed. However, the boy had to pay the cost of the book for cutting it.

High School Musical

This is my favourite song called “Bet On It” from High School Musical a movie on Disney Channel. This song has two different versions, one of them in Chinese and one of them is English. The Chinese version is sung by “Luo Zhi Xiang” and the English version is sung by “Zac Effron” which is the main character of the movie. The song’s tunes are same but the meanings are different. The movie has two episode one of them is “High School Musical” and one more is “High School musical 2” which is what I am saying now.My favourite character is Troy, because he plays Basketball just like I do.He also has a best friend that joins basketball and stands up for him whenever he is in trouble.I wish there will be a “High School Musical 3”!!!^_^

Disasters Of Nature!!!

Today I am going to talk about the six types of disasters of nature I know so far. They are,the Cyclones,Typhoon,Hurricane,Earthquakes,Volcano eruptions and Blizzards.I will try to explain to you what those disasters are.

A Cyclone is a atmospheric system characterized by the rapid inward circulation of air masses about a low-pressure center, usually accompanied by stormy, often destructive weather. Cyclones circulate counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. A violent tropical storm, especially one originating in the southwestern Pacific Ocean or Indian Ocean. A violent rotating windstorm. Any of various devices using centrifugal force to separate materials.

A Typhoon is a system with sustained winds of at least 33 m/s (64 kt, 74 mph, or 118 km/h). A cyclone of this intensity tends to develop an eye, an area of relative calm (and lowest atmospheric pressure) at the center of circulation. The eye is often visible in satellite images as a small, circular, cloud-free spot. Surrounding the eye is the eyewall, an area about 16–80 km (10–50 mi) wide in which the strongest thunderstorms and winds circulate around the storm's center. Maximum sustained winds in the strongest tropical cyclones have been estimated at about 85 m/s (165 kt, 190 mph, 305 km/h).

A Hurricane is a severe tropical cyclone originating in the equatorial regions of the Atlantic Ocean or Caribbean Sea or eastern regions of the Pacific Ocean, traveling north, northwest, or northeast from its point of origin, and usually involving heavy rains. A wind with a speed greater than 74 miles (119 kilometers) per hour, according to the Beaufort scale. Something resembling a hurricane in force or speed.

A Earthquake is a sudden movement of the Earth's lithosphere (its crust and upper mantle). Earthquakes are caused by the release of built-up stress within rocks along geologic faults or by the movement of magma in volcanic areas. They are usually followed by aftershocks.

A Volcano eruption is an opening in the earth's crust through which molten lava, ash, and gases are ejected. A similar opening on the surface of another planet. A mountain formed by the materials ejected from a volcano.
A Blizzard is a violent snowstorm with winds blowing at a minimum speed of 35 miles (56 kilometers) per hour and visibility of less than one-quarter mile (400 meters) for three hours.A very heavy snowstorm with high winds.A torrent; a superabundance: a blizzard of phone calls.
The way I explain is very difficult to understand but,I am just telling you more fax about things I have heard of.

Earthquake In Indonesia!!!

JAKARTA: The death toll from a series of powerful earthquakes off Indonesia's Sumatra island rose to 17 on Saturday, as rescue workers scoured rubble for more survivors, a health ministry official said.

"The latest death toll update is 17 people killed and 88 others injured," Rustam Pakaya from the health ministry's crisis centre told Elshinta Radio.

Thirteen fatalities occurred in worst-hit Bengkulu province and four were in West Sumatra, he said.

Rescue teams dispatched in the wake of Wednesday's initial 8.4-magnitude quake continued to hunt for victims feared to be trapped under collapsed houses, he added.

Dozens of serious aftershocks have jolted already traumatised survivors of the quakes, many of whom remain too petrified to return to buildings.

Overall damage from the disaster is much lower than initially feared. - AFP/ac
